【摘要】:Thedeterminationofisotopiccompositionbygamma-rayspectrometryisanondestructivetechniqueandwhenusedwithothernondestructivetechniques,suchascalorimetry(TestMethodC1458)orneutroncounting(TestMethodsC1207C1493C1500),canprovideatotallynondestructiveplutoniumassaynecessaryformaterialaccountancyandsafeguardsneeds.Sincegamma-rayspectrometrysystemsaretypicallyautomated,theroutineuseofthetestmethodisfast,reliable,andisnotlaborintensive.Sincethetestmethodisnondestructive,requiringnosamplepreparation,itdoesnotcreatewastedisposalproblems.Thistestmethodassumesthattheisotopiccompositionofplutoniuminthesamplebeingmeasuredishomogeneous(seesee7.2.4and(5)).The242Puabundanceisnotmeasuredbythistestmethodandmustbeestimatedfromisotopiccorrelationtechniques,streamaverages,historicalinformation,orothermeasurementtechniques.Adaughterproductof241Puis241Am.The241Am/239Puatomratiocanalsobedeterminedbymeansofthistestmethod(assumingahomogeneousisotopicdistributionofplutoniumand241Am)andisnecessaryforthecorrectinterpretationofacalorimetricheatmeasurement.Theisotopiccompositionofagivenbatchorsampleofplutoniumisanattributeofthatsampleand,oncedetermined,canbeusedinsubsequentinventorymeasurementstoverifytheidentityofasamplewithinthemeasurementuncertainties.Themethodcanalsomeasuretheratioofothergammaemitingisotopestoplutoniumassumingtheyhavethesamespatialdistributionastheplutoniuminthesample.Someofthesex201C;otherx201D;gamma-emittingisotopesincludeisotopesofuranium,neptium,curium,cesium,andotherfissionproducts.(Thesamemethodsofthisstandardcanbeusedtomeasuretheisotopiccompositionofuraniuminsamplescontainingonlyuranium(4x2013;6)).1.1ThistestmethodisapplicabletothedeterminationofisotopicabundancesinisotopicallyhomogeneousPu-bearingmaterials.Thistestmethodmaybeapplicabletootherplutonium-bearingmaterials,someofwhichmayrequiremodificationstothedescribedtestmethod.1.2Theprocedureisapplicabletosamplesizesrangingfromafewtenthsofagramuptothemaximumsampleweightallowedbycriticalitylimits.1.3Because242Puhasnousefulgamma-raysignature,itsisotopicabundanceisnotdetermined.Isotopiccorrelationtechniquesmaybeusedtoestimateitsrelativeabundance(Refs1,2).1.4Thistestmethodhasbeendemonstratedinroutineuseforisotopicabundancesrangingfrom94to70%239Pu.Thistestmethodhasalsobeenemployedforisotopicabundancesoutsidethisrange.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
