【摘要】:Referenceblocksfabricatedtothispracticewillexhibitspecificarea-amplitudeanddistance-amplituderelationshipsonlywithanimmersiontestat5MHzusingthesearchunit,testinstrument,andtestparametersdescribedinthispractice.Comparisontestsatotherfrequenciesorwithuncalibratedtestsystemswillnotnecessarilygivethesamerelationshipsshowninthispractice.Note28212;The1964andpriorissuesofthispracticerequiredatestfrequencyof15MHz.Blocksconformingtoearlierissuesofthispracticemaynotproduceultrasonicresponsesthatconformtothisissue.SeeSection13regardingprovisionforrecertificationorcorrectioncurvesandtables.Althoughtheprimaryultrasonicevaluationofblocksisperformedataspecifiedfrequency,theblocksmaybeusedtostandardizeultrasonictestsatanyfrequencyandwithanypulse-echoultrasonictestsystem.Establishmentofdistance-amplitudeandarea-amplitudecharacteristicsisnecessaryforeachapplication.Thisusemaybeinappropriateforothermaterialsandcurvedsurfaceswithoutspecialcompensation.Alsosee(3)forcautionsregardinguseofstandardblocksforteststandardization.1.1Thispracticecoversaprocedureforfabricatingaluminumalloyultrasonicstandardreferenceblocksthatcanbeusedforcheckingperformanceofultrasonictestingequipmentandforstandardizationandcontrolofultrasonictestsofaluminumalloyproductsusingpulsedlongitudinalwavesintroducedintotestmaterialeitherbythedirect-contactmethodorbytheimmersionmethod.Arecommendedprocedureforcheckingblocksisdescribedandcalibrationdataforanumberofreferenceblocksaretabulated.Statementsconcerningproceduresareprovidedwithoutadiscussionofthetechnicalbackgroundforthepreference.ThenecessarytechnicalbackgroundcanbefoundinRefs.(1-16).Note18212;PracticeE428andGuideE1158alsodescribeproceduresforselectingmaterial,fabricatingblocks,andcheckingresponse.Unlikethispractice,thereisnorequirementforevaluationrelativetoaspecifiedstandardtarget.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
